On some of the later models that Ariston brought out they started to introduce error codes in the form of Alphanumeric readout codes. Typically F01. According to our sources, the company who own Ariston – Indesit, have a standard set of software programme called ‘EVO2′ of which as a common set of error codes across the whole range of washer appliances.
Ariston Washing Machine Error Codes
In their most basic form an error code is digital and consists of ‘0′ or ‘1′. That means ‘no’ ‘yes’ or ‘off’ ‘on’ respectively. Because humans don’t do binary as we have ten fingers and not two we can’t quote and recognise digital so the programme device will interpret those signals and display them as code for us meer mortals to be able to read.
Below I have set out the codes in a more readable format. The description and solution to each error code is my interpetation of it, put into my own words. If you intend to use this information to fault find your own Ariston Washing Machine then do please seek alternative advice from a qualified person. Otherwise read on.
F01 – Triac Motor short circuit
Cause – Water damage or corrosion to the component driving the motor on the main pcb or the motor connector block with bad connections.
F02 – Motor Tacho Short or open circuit.
Cause – Motor jammed so check the motor plug or the connection point J9 on the main PCB – printed ciruit board. J9 also incorporates the feed to the tacho meter at pins 1 and 2. Look for about 115 – 170 ohm here. Also on three phase motors we need continuity between pins 6 and 7 at J9.
F03 – NTC Open or in Short Circuit or wash heater relay stuck.
Note: If you don’t know what an NTC is then I suggest you read the article How to Test a Dishwasher Thermal Cut Out there are similarities.
Cause : NTC open or short circuit. Check the connection point J8 and the efficiency of the device. Typically 20kOhms at 20.C between pins 11 and 12.
